    In the dark
    You can take your mark
    Shoot words off into the abyss
    No need to fear if you miss
    All it is,
    is practice.

    There are always some around
    Because like fleas
    Their numbers abound 

    But never mind them 
    You don’t know their story
    They didn’t grow up like you or me

    You are you 
    And you are strong
    You don’t need to play along

    Watch the colours change in the sky
    The light, washing away the night
    Listen to the waves crashing on the sand
    Remember the kisses I have laid on your hands

    to his wife who was sitting just adjacent
    I paused for just a moment

    As Ye Ye used to call Ma Ma by that name
    A sound bite from the deep recesses of my brain
    One that is still replaying 
    Again and again
